Plus One: How to fight in front of the kids
If you are like most new moms you have painted the nursery, picked a name, and are having coffee with your doula on Saturday. Everything is ready to go...
But is your marriage ready?
- Are you ready to have fights while sleep-deprived?
- Can you share your frustrations without being a complete witch?
- Do you have a plan for bonding with your baby AND keeping your marriage alive, too?
In this 4 week course you'll make sure that your marriage is ready for this new little person. You'll learn skills to make sure that you're communicating and loving each other during this often stressful time in a marriage.
Who is Plus One for?
- Expecting parents
- New parents that are looking for ways to keep the marriage spark alive (i.e. you're saying things like "We need a date night... stat!")
When and where do we meet?
The course consists of 4 classes that will meet on the following dates:
- September 5th
- September 12th
- September 19th
- September 26th
Classes start online at 7pm (Central) and end at 8:30pm.
What does an online class mean?
Each Wednesday night at 7pm we'll have a scheduled webinar using www.anymeeting.com. You'll get a video feed of Mark and I during the live class and the ability to chat directly with us during and after the class. We plan to answer any and all questions thrown at us. We want your questions so that we know that what we're teaching will really be of value to your relationship.
If, for some reason, you're unable to attend the live feed a recording will be provided for you within 24 hours. You won't lose out on any information or exercises that we'll do that night, but you will lose out on being able to ask questions that will help your specific needs.
Who is teaching the class?
Mark and Marie from Nashville Marriage Studio. Mark is a husband, new dad, and a stickler for honest and open communication. Marie is his wife and baby mama. She is also a lover of healthy communication and has the Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy to prove it.
How much is the class?
Right now the class is pay what you can. More than anything I (Marie) want to see as many couples as possible prepare their marriage while their children are young and before you screw them up too much with the yelling and screaming :)
This isn't a forever deal, though, so get on it if finances are an issue in your decision-making.

Is this a parenting class?
This is not a parenting class. We will not be teaching you how to raise your kid or whether you should or shouldn't spank. But we will be teaching you how to communicate in a loving way. You will learn how to deal with (completely natural) stress as you make many transitions in your life and family. You'll learn how to express your needs without hurting the person you love.

25% of EVERY pay-what-you-can ticket will go to the Children's Center of the Cumberlands to help provide counseling for abused and neglected kids. By helping your kid you'll also be helping someone else's.
